Position Posting: Assistant Softball Coach (Second Sport TBD)/Classroom Teacher

 

Mena Public Schools is seeking applicants for a full-time teaching position that includes coaching responsibilities as Assistant Softball Coach and an additional second sport to be determined based on district needs and applicant experience.

 

Teaching Responsibilities
The selected candidate will teach courses aligned with their Arkansas licensure area and current district staffing needs. Teaching assignment may include courses within the candidate’s certified content area and grade levels served by the district.

 

Coaching Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Softball Coach with planning and conducting practices and competitions
• Support player development, skill instruction, and game preparation
• Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic accountability for student-athletes
• Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and team activities
• Assist with program organization, equipment management, and communication with players and parents
• Support an additional athletic program as assigned

Qualifications

• Valid Arkansas teaching license or eligibility for Arkansas licensure
• Coaching experience or playing experience in softball preferred
• Ability to assist with an additional athletic program
• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills

Additional Requirements

• Must meet all Arkansas Activities Association (AAA) coaching requirements
• CDL or willingness to obtain CDL preferred

Salary and benefits are based on the district salary schedule and applicable coaching stipends.
